Interim Presidential Tasks
The Board reviewed the document Interim President Board Tasks. Claire added recurring tasks for our interim presidents to follow. Adrienne will follow up with Larry Israel about the recruitment page on the website.
Membership Officer
Daniel is done revising the duties document. Daniel and Jesse have met and Daniel is available to help out as Jesse gets the hang of things. Jesse will write to Larry to ask if it is necessary to send him a list of new and renewing names. Claire will give Jesse access to regfox as the membership officer.
COVID-19 Safety
The Board discussed the recent blog comment on COVID-19 safety. Adrienne will write up a suggestion for Covid safety guidelines based on this discussion, and we will revisit next month.
Background Checks
Required for board members and teachers (and registration workers) every three years. The Board has decided to extend this to be every five years.
New board members need to complete checks.
We need a board member to be an admin for the Coeus background checks since Janis left. Heather has volunteered and will meet with Janis and set up an account.
Status of Non-Resident Zimbabwean Applications
We have 12 applications from Zimbabwean teachers new to (in-person) Zimfest, a couple of them were received after the soft deadline of Jan 31.
We have 16 total applications of Zimbabweans who would need support at the festival and are awaiting 3-4 more veterans who have said they will apply.
Based on previous years (and our budget), we would like 11-12 Zimbabweans with a mix of newcomers and veterans and a balance of offerings and ethnic/gender diversity. With the number of applicants, people must take turns and not expect to be hosted at every single Zimfest. The Organizing Committee team is in the process of figuring out whom to invite, in order to get invitation letters out ASAP for visa applications.
Other Organizing Committee Updates
Caden found someone willing to do graphics for at least Save the Date card and website banner, they are working on it now.
Claire is working on the 2025 web pages with Larry – check out the new pages up.
Heather will work on Ellensburg area info (restaurants).
We need more details of on-campus housing and dining to finish those pages, but are still waiting on communication from CWU.
Teachers/Workshops team is working on getting online tech needs ready for the end of applications.

The Board will continue to add ideas to the document, and we will discuss this at the next meeting.
