Finances

The bookkeeping transition is (mostly) complete! Parker was able to get together with Gary at an OCCU branch to get signed onto the account and get debit cards. Quickbooks online is up and running with some payroll-related backend support from Gary for the moment.

Claire had a fundraising conversation with Audrey Neubauer.

  • Audrey is an experienced grant writer and should be able to work on some grants for Zimfest, with direction and access to ZA documents and previous grant proposals, which Claire has provided.
  • Claire gave some ideas for granting sources (Paul Allen-funded Community Accelerator Grants and tribal entity in the Ellensburg area – Yakama Nation).
  • We need to start up projected budgets again, so that we can identify an amount of $ we are requesting of grants, including making sure we can cover festival off-year association expenses.
  • Suggestion from Audrey that we identify an amount of $ we are requesting for any grants. We need to be able to raise money in the festival off-years for association expenses.
    • It’s time for our treasurer and bookkeeper to again provide projected budgets for the current and next fiscal year (we stopped requesting this as our expenses and income were so difficult to predict)
    • Parker and Heather will work on 2026 and 2027 (to the extent possible) in addition to 2025 P&L. Claire will point them towards Chris Halaska’s previous budgets for reference.
  • We need volunteers to work on other fund-raising in the form of soliciting local sponsorships in the community where Zimfest is being held.

Recording Project Progress (Claire, Parker, Charlie, Caden)

Liner notes are almost approved, and mixing is nearing completion! Next steps are to approve final products, and set up the bandcamp page, which will happen soon.

Zimfest 2029 Update

The Board is in ongoing communication with one interested host for Zimfest 2029.

Transition Team Next Steps (Angela, Caden, Claire, Charlie, Mandy)

The Transition Task Force has spent time writing up in more detail the responsibilities and tasks of Claire’s job, based on Claire’s extensive writeups.

The Task Force seconds Claire’s suggestion that the position be broken up into Festival Coordinator and Site Coordinator. The Festival Coordinator would be a paid employee, while Site Coordinator would ideally be a volunteer position.

The Task Force will move forward with drafting a public job description.

Draze Update (Parker)

Draze appreciates our sharing of his posts for cross-promotion. He and his wife JaNett may periodically send over some more stuff to share.
