Approve July Minutes/Synopsis (All)
Alex will send the July Minutes and Synopsis to the Board by email for approval.
Preparing Minutes for Village Meeting (All)
Jacqueline will put together the Village Meeting minutes, working from the Zoom video recording. The Board discussed pros and cons of posting the Zoom recording on the website. Only minutes are required by the by-laws. Consideration of changing the by-laws to make the Village Meeting available by recordings in addition to minutes, to promote transparency, will be added to the Sept. agenda.
Zimfest 2021 Loose Ends (Claire)
Remaining payments to 2021 teachers/performers will be made soon.
Zimfest 2021 Debrief (All, Claire)
The Board commended Claire for her exceptional effort in making Zimfest 2021 a great success! Feedback received so far regarding the festival was discussed. Lots of appreciation was expressed for the concerts, including getting to see Zimbabwean artists who are new to Zimfest. The general lack of response and participation from US marimba communities in Zimfest 2021 was disappointing. People have asked to view workshop recordings and the OC will set up a new registration process for this. Some ideas for future Zimfests were received. The Board deferred to the OC about whether to send out a post-festival survey.
Zimfest 2022 Scheming (All)
Next year will be the 30th anniversary of 1992 Zimfest. A physical venue for Zimfest 2022 has not been decided upon. Evergreen (the cancelled 2020 venue) has not determined its 2022 conference situation. WOU disbanded their conference services department so is an unlikely venue.
