Board Membership & Presidential Search (All; 15 min)
The search for Board President is ongoing.
Janis is stepping down; the Board reviewed a list of her responsibilities to divvy up, and we will circle back at the next board meeting. The Board greatly appreciates Janis’ time and contributions to the organization over the years.
Site Search Updates (Claire, 20 min)
- Heather – U of Idaho
- They are putting together a package, they think they can host us. Heather will follow up.
- Claire
- Central Washington University: Conference Services charges $30 per person, plus $10/day per person for those staying on campus.
- This is not typical; the last time we needed to do this was at University of Puget Sound.
- We need to evaluate whether we can move forward with this site.
- Whitman College: Claire is doing a site visit the first week of June. They may have legacy clients during our preferred dates.
- Western Oregon University: They no longer have legacy clients conflicting with our dates. Claire has asked them to give information on 2025 and 2026.
- Central Washington University: Conference Services charges $30 per person, plus $10/day per person for those staying on campus.
- Another possibility is Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. We still need to contact them.
- Claire will check with the University of Puget Sound.
Food Insecurity in Zim (Alyson, 10 min)
2.7 million Zimbabweans are facing hunger. This is expected to be long-term.
We will add this information to the membership drive letter, in which Daniel listed some organizations already (while encouraging people to do research).
Draft Budget Fiscal Year 2024 (Heather, 10 min)
The draft budget for Fiscal Year 2024 (same as Calendar Year) projects a loss of approximately $6.5K. Currently we have approximately $28K in our credit union accounts, so this loss can be covered. The Board discussed membership and fundraising ideas.
Heather will be updating 2-factor authentication information with our credit union.
