Fundraising Letter (Dana)
A few changes and additions to the letter then send out. Make some personal calls to follow up. Have goals, to host a Zimbabwean it costs this amount of money. Add – let us know about about your plan on the blog or facebook. Cafepress added later.
Zimfest 2017 Update (Claire)
Fort Worden, Port Townsend – out for 2017. Bellingham (WWU) is the date of the Oregon Country Fair. Other places to look into: Central Washington, Gonzaga, Eastern Washington, Whitman, Seattle Pacific University, Seattle Center, University of Washington, PLU (1st choice), and Whidbey as options. Vancouver and Victoria options? Visas are difficult to get. Whidbey – catering, camping, local housing, local hotels.
Tour West Grant (Claire)
Matching grant, can we use funds from Project Kudzana? The other challenge is they require a community educational outreach that needs to be planned out more than a year in advance. We are not in a position to know that far in advance yet. Boys and Girls Club for potential workshops, create a working relationship, start the conversation now. Other educational outreach venues could be Rainbow Dance Theatre at WOU, Spectrum dance – Seattle.
OC 2016 Update (Claire)
Teacher applications are open and a few have applied. David’s letter helped with getting a few more volunteers. Still needing a marimba wrangler for a large position, we have a possible lead. Committee made the decision again to rule out Zimbabwean Dinner. Department of Music has agreed to co-sponsor the festival. Use on poster and for B1 visas. Concerts in the park has hired Boka on the Wednesday. Get Save the dates and posters to the city council. 5 marimbas have been donated from Joe Keefe from Santa Cruz, 2 sopranos, 2 tenors and a hybrid of tenor/baritone. Margie Smith has them stored at her place already. Themes: Musekiwa’s ideas – Chinyakare, Mangoma Ndizho, Lucky’s – Tambai Tambai (all encompassing) – Dlala-Dlala (isiNdebele) dance play sing – save the date cards can be created. Research the Tribal grant, sponsorship from city council?, advertising at wineries.
Treasurer (Janis)
Working on changing banks. No other update at the moment.
Modify Vision Statement
Add a bullet point: Actively reaches out to new audiences and participants, offering opportunities for deeper involvement. Among instead of between on the last bullet and add volunteers after staff.
