Zimfest 2019 will again be held at Western Oregon University (WOU) in Monmouth, Oregon from 8 to 11 August. We sincerely hope that you will be able to join us. Please read the information below carefully.
ALL INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE IS FROM ZIMFEST 2018. We will update it when Zimfest 2019 marketplace details are finalized. Vendor applications will be available sometime in the Spring, 2019.
Zimfest Market Criteria
Zimfest is an annual celebration of Zimbabwean music and culture. In keeping with the spirit of this gathering, musical instruments and merchandise offered for sale at Zimfest 2018 should be of Zimbabwean or related African origin. Please note that due to WOU restrictions, we cannot have vendors selling food at the Zimfest Marketplace.
The Zimfest Marketplace and Afternoon stage will be located in “The Grove,” an open area with trees around the periphery. The Grove is convenient to the Werner University Center, site of Zimfest Registration, and links the WOU campus residential and academic areas. Free parking for Zimfest attendees will be available in Parking Lot F just south of the Grove.
Vehicles may access the Grove via the road that runs behind the Werner University Center (see WOU Map). Overnight storage will be in a locked room in Ackerman Hall (one of the dorms we will use for housing), on the north edge of the Grove. There will be a limited number of handcarts available to move vendor items.
Space in The Grove, one 6’ table, and two folding chairs and a limited amount of secure indoor storage are included in the vendor registration fee. We have ample space in this location, so there is no need to limit yourself to a 10’x10’ canopy as has been the case in previous years. Please bring your own table coverings.
- $75 registration fee for each commercial vendor
- $50 registration fee for each non-profit organization (please provide documentation of IRS 501(c)(3) status with application)
- 5% commission on sales above $500. The sales commission will be collected on Sunday afternoon at the end of the festival, so please keep track of your sales on a daily basis. Zimfest relies on the honesty of vendors to accurately report sales and pay accordingly.
- Additional support is available at the following rates:
- Each additional (6-foot) table — $10
- Each additional chair — $2
- Electricity (110 volt) to table — $10
- 10’x10’ pop-up canopy* — $100
* Reservations for canopies should be made at the time of application, and no later than the application deadline of 16 July.
Please note that WOU does not allow the use of tent stakes in the Grove, so you will need to use weights or some other means of anchoring vendor canopies.
